For healthcare professionals

If any of these sound like you, you're in the right place.

01

"I come home after a long shift and my partner gets whatever's left — which isn't much."

02

"I'm great at reading my patients. I've stopped being able to read my own relationship."

03

"Things are functional between us. But I can't remember the last time we actually felt close."

The framework

Five stages. One repeatable cycle.

RECAL is not a list of tips. It is a structured process — designed for people who carry too much for a living and need something that works even when they're depleted.

01
RRecognize

Notice what's actually happening

Before you can change the pattern, you have to see it. Most healthcare professionals are so practised at suppressing their own needs that they don't notice the relationship shifting until it's well underway.

Stage one
02
EExplore

Get curious before you react

Healthcare training rewards decisive action. In relationships, that instinct backfires. Explore is about slowing down to understand what's actually underneath the surface behaviour — the fears and needs driving what you do at home.

Stage two
03
CCalibrate

Switch from clinical mode to partner mode

Your nervous system is still running on work settings when you walk through the door. Calibrate is about deliberately adjusting your communication, responses, and presence to match the person in front of you — not the shift you just finished.

Stage three
04
AAttune

Connect, don't just coordinate

Many healthcare couples are highly functional together and deeply disconnected. Attune is about moving from managing logistics to genuine emotional connection — warmth, eye contact, and real presence with the person you chose.

Stage four
05
LLock In

Make connection a consistent practice

The hardest part isn't improving — it's maintaining. Lock In is about small, reliable rituals that protect your relationship from the relentless demands of healthcare work — contact points that don't depend on everything being perfect.

About

Built by a clinician.
For clinicians.

I'm a Clinical Nurse with over 15 years of experience in healthcare — and I understand what it means to carry other people's wellbeing for a living.

After years of working in clinical settings and coaching individuals and couples, I kept noticing the same pattern: healthcare professionals weren't struggling in their relationships because they didn't care. They were struggling because nobody had ever given them a framework built for their specific working life.

I created the RECAL Method to change that. It's the framework I wish had existed — built for the reality of shift work, emotional labour, and the particular kind of depletion that comes with caring for others for a living.
